World War II HAMILTON Model 22 chronometer in its traditional three section varnished wood case with full gimbal mounts. The 12 hour dial is without a blemish and looks as new. It reads HAMILTON LANCASTER, PA., U.S.A., 48 hour Up/Down Indicator at top, Seconds Bit Under. The number 13241 is engraved on the bezel and on the body of the housing under Hamilton. Inside, the nickeled brass movement is engraved: "HAMILTON WATCH CO. MODEL22-21 JEWELS, ADJ.TO TEMP & 8 POS.,MADE IN U.S.A., U.S. NAVY- BU. SHIPS-1942." To the right of the balance wheel is 2F20827 which is the chronometer movement's serial number. Features a white enameled dial with bold Arabic numerals, set in a very heavy solid brass case with weighted bottom. This watch is stem wound and pin set. The chronometer box measures 6 inches square and retains the original nameplates. Fits snuggly into the green felt-lined storage, carrying box. Weighs 10 1/4 pounds including the outer storage box.  

CONDITION: The Hamilton chronometer survives in fine condition and keeps accurate time. The Up/Down winding indicator is missing it's counting hand. Some minor surface scratches on the brass housing. The mahogany three-tiered box also has some minor surface scratches as well as the carrying case. The leather strap belt on the outer box is missing.
