Early 20th century pair of American made TRIPLEX port and starboard lanterns, now re-purposed into nautical table lamps. Both lanterns have their oval brass labels attached to the front that states "TRADE TRIPLEX MARK, LENSE PATD.DEC. 20, 1910, OTHER PATS. PEND." On the backside of each lantern is a brass label that states: "MFRD BY NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO., NEW YORK." The port lantern features a ruby-red Triplex design Fresnel lense, is made out of galvanized metal and retains an old, encrusted weathered red-painted surface. The matching starboard lantern with ocean blue triplex lense and retaining an old green-painted surface. Both lense are in good condition, free of chips or cracks. Both lamps have their hinged bottom cover that opens to access the interior light socket. Both table lamps are newly wired and come with new bulb sockets and lamp hardware.
The lamp lighting choices toggle between the interior light and the lamp light via the upper light switch. You can use either the upper room light, the interior lantern light or both as desired. Measures 18 1/2 inches tall to the top of the shade (as shown) and 5 inch corners at base. A wonderful pair of authentic nautical lanterns with lots of maritime charm, re-purposed for today’s nautical home.
