Japanese Lifeboat Binnacle Compass, SAURA SEISAKUSHO CO., Tokyo

An authentic brass Japanese lifeboat binnacle with compass. The makers label located on the housing front states: "MAGNETIC COMPASS, TYPE P100, NO. 83042, TOKYO, SCW, JAPAN, SAURA SEISAKUSHO CO., DATE 1957." classic helmet shaped binnacle with removable lid, side light with burner and black and white painted interior. 4 1/2 inch porthole viewing window. Removable liquid-filled, 4 inch brass gimbal compass marked "O.T.K.W. KEIKI SETSAKUSHO CO., LTD." along the edge of the compass face. Adjustable top chimney vent. The housing measures 8 1/4 inches in diameter (bottom flange and exclusive of the light housing) and stands 8 1/2 inches tall, including the light housing.

CONDITION: Minor denting on light housing. The liquid-filled compass is missing a portion of the fluid and the compass facing with stain marks, but still in working order.
