WWII Marine Pelorus on Binnacle 1942

 Pelorus No 1, Illuminated Dial, manufactured by the Lionel Corporation, New York. Serial no 1017, issued 1942, self-contained in binnacle with dial sight vane and removable domed cover, probably from a destroyer, in the black paint as issued, with US Navy Bureau of Ships plate, 57" tall, 13 1/2" diam. Good condition. This is not a compass, but measures the angle between beam and fore & aft line, or the horizontal angle between any object and the ship's head. Critical for naval gunnery. An exceptonal example in good, original condition!
