A 1:200 scale World War II Naval Ship Recognition Model of the French Battleship "Richelieu." Printed identification text on underside of the mounting board "RICHELIEU, (RICHELIEU CLASS) FRANCE- BB,H.A. FRAMBURG & CO., CHICAGO, B-44." Used to train in the recognition of ship silhouettes by Naval personnel. Painted battleship grey and mounted on a blue-painted board that measures 3 inches X 21 inches.This model measures approx 19 1/2" in length and is 2 3/4" wide at the widest point. Mounted onto the original blue-painted display board. The model is mostly intact, but is missing a few turret gun barrels. Some wood loss on the top edge of the mounting board. 

HISTORY: During WWII the United States Government contracted with several companies to make scale recognition models of ships H.A. Framburg Co. was contracted by the US Military begining in 1942 to build ship recognition models During this period....H.A. Framburg models were the most anatomically accurate scale models of that era. The guns/turrets were made seperately and later mounted on the model and the turrets turn. Framburg models had the ships class and production dates cast into the mold on the bottom of the ship model.Framburg produced both US, French and British Naval vessels. They ceased production of these models in 1945
