Red Breasted Merganser Hen by Gentry Childress, Virginia Beach, Virginia, circa 2007. This merganser is carved in the style of Lothrop Holmes of Kingston, Mass, circa 1870 and “Aged” to match the time period it represents. The carving and painted surface resides in good original Condition but does have a condition problem with a shrinkage crack along the bottom. The Bottom is Carved: “G. Childress / 2007” and written in pen" Red Breasted Merganser hen in the style of Lothrop Holmes of Kingston, Mass, ca. 1870" and also inscribed "Gentry Childress, Virginia Beach, Va 2007. Measurements: 16 ½” in length, 5 1/2” in width, and 8 3/4” in height including bottom weight.
