A handcrafted, probably sailor made macrame hard-shellacked basket with flared sides, late 19th to early 20th century. The intricate work was crafted free-form from fishing twine with a scalloped top and open weave sides. Measures approximately 7 1/4" in diameter (interior) and is approx 2 1/4" high.

Handcrafted items such as these were made shipboard for
 a loved one ashore. Survives in good condition.
