A three-ring bronze frame
"HEZZANITH" Model 130M sextant by the British instrument maker,
Heath, & Co., LTD, New Eltham, London. The instrument has its original
certificate dated 28 October 1971 which matches its serial number of 71627.
Heath has been making fine
instruments for 160 plus years. The model 130M sextant represents the best
dollar value of any professional sextant available. Its design incorporates all
the basic features of more expensive instruments, and has proven itself over
many years of successful use by professionals and yachtsmen alike. A unique
feature of Heath sextants is that the rack teeth are cut on the backside of the
limb, thereby reducing radial pressure (and wear) on the pivot arm and increasing
chances for long-term accuracy.
