Early 20th Century Bellamy Style Carved Wooden Eagle

This is an early 20th century American eagle, very detailed, hand-carved from thick New England pine (in three pieces) clutching a patriotic shield in one claw and a bundle of arrows in the other. The eagle is displayed with both wings fully outstretched. The carving retains a touch of gilt over yellow sizing and the back with an old weathered painted surface. Was originally held in place with metal hanging brackets located on each end of the back of the wings. A perfect sze for displaying over a doorway or above a fireplace mantel. Overall Dimensions: 9"H x 26"W x 3 3/4"D. Weighs 2 pounds.
