Rare, hard to find Trinity House pattern signal lantern,  constructed in brass with thick clear glass bull's eye lens, side shutter with checked grip, fixed rear (brass) and top handle with turned wooden grip, side window with sliding cover. Hinged top opens to reveal removable burner with reflector and shutter assembly. Measures 13 1/2 inches to top of handle. Circa 1890. 

These Signal lamps were issued to the keepers of English Lighthouses by Trinity House. 
Used for signaling to the Lighthouse tender.
