Extra nice, early 19th century, handheld, two draw telescope of English manufacture, circa 1830. Although unsigned, made with characteristics exhibited of telescopes produced by fine English opticians. The 1 3/8 inch objective lens survives in perfect condition, with sun shade and protected by its original press-on lens cap, with sliding dust cover. The eyepiece features a dust slide that is also in good working order. This telescope is composed of all brass construction with a choice flamed mahogany main tube, in mint condition. The telescope optics are perfect and produce a clear, highly magnified image. The telescope measures 10 1/2 inches closed extending to 24 inches (not including the sun shade). Weighs 2 pounds. A wonderful telescope, perfect for both display and use!
